My first sight of a Scout in the air was on a windy day near Karitane.
The Scout's empty weight was under 50kg, the motor, 12 hp and the cruising speed around 30 kt, although that might have been optimistic. Control was 2-axis (rudder/elevator-warping, I think).
About a year ago I came across an ad in the aircraft for sale section of trademe which evoked some nostalgia.
My favourite example of the power of a few words in a good poem is this one written during World War One:
